Traditionally, when planning the window dressings in a property, the householder would always be mindful of the appearance of the property from the outside of the house, front and back. The aim would be to give a uniform look from one side of the property. For instance if curtains were being installed in one window, all the other windows on that side would have the same treatment.
The trend now is definitely moving away from that. The key now is to achieve the correct look for each individual room, regardless of how this looks from the exterior.
